There is nothing I love more than Phoenix creatives designing new and beautiful things. My favorite local magazine at the moment is Emma Magazine with the tagline “If Martha Stewart was a twenty-something.” Seriously, someone pulled the pages of this magazine from my brain.
The great read spotlights some of my favorite Phoenix haunts, adorable DIYs, recipes and fashions that are actually my style and it is completely refreshing. I also love the style of photography that captures all the above.
In the two issues that have come out, Emma Magazine has had recipes for delicious soups (I am going through this phase where all I want to eat is soup), DIY wood transfers, crepes and “Mama Duds,” which I am not pregnant, but I wanted all of their picks.
One of my favorite part of the magazine are the printables! I printed this cute calendar (with my signature glasses) for my work desk and I can’t wait to use the gift tags.
I was even more in love when I flipped to the next page and saw friend Chelsea Brown in her own spread. Chelsea has the great blog Tea Talk and always shares her great daily outfits and thoughts on Phoenix, so they couldn’t have picked a cooler chick.
I am so excited to see the next issues of Emma Magazine. I have been pulling ideas from their outfits, decor and recipes, so I can’t wait to be even more inspired. Check out the December and January issues, as well as videos and outtake, at www.emmamag.com.
I am always looking for new magazines to read and love. What are some magazines you are currently reading?
I am back… Kind of.
Currently, my laptop is somewhere in California getting fixed after meeting an untimely death thanks to a cup of water.
I made a few resolutions, which I never do, but I think these ones are attainable. One is to maintain this blog. And once I kept my bestie Macbook back, I will! [Edit: I just got it back!] In between working, hopefully traveling, eating, running and planning a wedding (some life changes happened between this and my last post), I am definitely going to post.
In the meantime, I will update whenever I can mooch off someone’s computer…
Curious, did you all make any resolutions?
J.Crew and Kate Spade are my wallet weaknesses. I promise you that I can justify any purchase made from either store. So, you can bet that when I saw that Kate Spade was having a 75% off sale, I was going to purchase a few things (despite my super tight budget).
Well, you just lost a bet. I did not go wild. I bought one lovely plate for a centerpiece. However, Kate Spade’s items are so classic and quirky and fit my style to a tee (and she’s an ASU alumna) and I am pining over a few things:
The Wellesly Rachelle in peacock (basically my dream bag)
Composition Notebook iPhone 4 Case
Skinny Mini Bow Bangle
(My boyfriend bought me one of their idiom bangles last Christmas and this would go perfect with it)
And all of her dresses
One day I will become a millionaire and buy this all. Until then, I will head to the outlet that’s on the way to L.A.
It was kind of a bad idea for me to start this blog while in the middle of packing up a room I’ve lived in for 13 years and moving to an apartment in downtown Phoenix (well, midtown if you want to get technical). It’s my first time moving out of the parents’ house, so it’s undoubtedly a big deal.
I’m moving in with a lovely miss and for months we have been searching for the perfect place and buying the perfect furniture and doing everything it takes to move in to a brand new place.
One thing I am most excited about ia making the place our own with our own touches and since I am super cheap and like to save my money, I am looking forwarding to going all Pinterest on the place with tons of DIY crafts. I’ve been scouring the interwebz for ideas upon ideas upon ideas and here are a few (out of many) I’ve bookmarked:
Anthropologie-Inspired Serving Tower
Colored Mason Jars
Gold Confetti Art
Wish me loads of luck because I am very uncrafty, but I am really wanting to try some cute projects. I’ll be sure to share the final projects here once they are completed.
Are there any crafts you want to try?
I am late to this blogging game.
For someone who works in public relations and social media, who was an editor of blogs and reads a dozens and dozens of bookmarked blogs, I should’ve been doing this years ago.
And I did! I had a haiku blog where, you guessed it, I blogged in haiku poems. I had a blog about downtown Phoenix for class. I had a blog where the only thing I remember posting was about my newly painted turquoise room.
This one is different. This one is going to stick. Promise.
Plain and simple, I just want to document the times I have here in Phoenix and elsewhere. I like to do cool things! I eat awesome food! I travel to nice places! And I am terrible at taking pictures and I don’t have a journal (but who does?). So, this will be my 21st century documentation in case my memory ceases to exist in later years. (What an awful thing to think about!)
Oh, and why “Mop Top?”
My hair is literally never smooth or looking how I want it to. Life is the same. It is always never smooth and going how you want it to. As a quintessential Virgo, I am constantly fighting the imperfections of an unplanned “tragedies” in life (my life is actually never tragic in real tragedy terms), but I am now excepting that not everything goes the way I want it to go and I am dealing with it. (Cue “Deal with It” meme.)
That’s it. Even though this blog is mainly for me, I do hope you enjoy it!
